Introduction
Hello and welcome to my blog. As I'm acquainted with many serious guitarists at varying points in their musical development, I thought it would be interesting to explore different aspects of an intense musical pursuit, specifically as that relates to the guitarist. I'm quite positive that I'm not the only player who continues to deal with frustration, lack of motivation, and lack of progress. Hopefully, this blog and the comments that are submitted will provide some practice tips, new approaches, or at least some food for thought that may aid you in breaking through that wall you (and I) sometimes find ourselves up against as we seek to drive our musicianship to its full potential. Stay tuned for my first entry which will address essential areas of study for the serious player. Please feel free to comment and contribute.

Cool.
Looking forward to it.
As am I!
I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on motivation - as in, what is it that drives us to do what we do? (ie, pursuing the mastery of music). Where does that motivation come from, and what fuels it?
Oh, and why is your favorite number 5?
That sounds like a good topic. We'll try discussing that in a few weeks.
As for the number 5, that is an entire entry in and of itself, but perhaps I can condense it slightly. Five is ideal in many ways: It is in the middle of the single digit numbers, it ends with a nice consonant sound, and it works well as the answer to any question requiring a noun, verb, or adjective as the answer (in contrast, 9 works well when quantifying how many times something occurred or needs to happen). That's all.
Try it:
What key is this song in? Five
How are you? Five
What is your favorite color? Five
What do you do for a living? Five
How much should I practice every week? Nine times.
Has your heart ever been broken? Yes. Nine times.
Anyway, makes sense to me.
